interaction between sols style inscriptions and koran scribing in abbasi style

چکیده

t in islam world, writing and scribing koran has been always a very important issue. professional  scribers and calligraphers of koran were in the acme point of this process. scribing diversity as  well as different styles of writing divine words does not contradict with uprightness in recording  koran words so that in addition to observing this principle, great calligraphers have tried to  scribe koran in various artistic styles and their individual genius. alireza abbasi, the reputable  calligrapher of the '·th and ''th hijri centuries who lived in safavid era, was a great  calligrapher who was very professional in all seven styles of inscriptions. his inscriptions still  shine in reputable places like sheikh lotfollah mosque, abbasi friday mosque's gateway, holy shrine  of imam reza, monument of sheikh safi-al-din ardebili and so many other places. moreover, he was  one of predominant calligraphers of koran. a precious calligraphic koran which was written by him  to shah abbas during residing in mashhad is an ever-lasting work in the field of koran calligraphy.  a close view on the artistic life of alireza abbasi and his interest in epigraphy reveals the  apparent influence of epigraphic styles on scribing his famous koran including writing  discontinuous words with high tone, use of epigraphic configuration in scribing koran, use of  diverse colors which are close to those used in epigraphy and investing words in scribing koran.  this paper is based on desk studies and performs a filed study on alireza abbasi's inscription in  different cities and places of iran. its purpose is to investigate the effect of his interests and  experiences in styles of scribing the holy koran. the main question of this paper is the quality of  the effect of epigraphy tradition on abbasi's koran and the interaction between the former and the  latter. the investigation of the mentioned effect and interaction reveals that he has adopted  important epigraphic traditions in scribing abbasi koran in reyhan style in the best manner.
